Introduction:
As we close out the first month since the launch of the 1st Ranger Battalion, ARMA 3 Realism, we want to take a moment to reflect on our progress, update you on some upcoming downtime, and give you a sneak peek at what’s in store for September’s operations. It’s been an exciting journey so far, and we’re just getting started!

First Month Recap:
The last few weeks have been nothing short of incredible. We’ve welcomed new recruits, completed our first training sessions, and launched our initial operations with great success.
Here’s a quick look at what we’ve accomplished:
Successful Launch:
- Our unit kicked off with 12 members, all eager to dive into realistic ARMA 3 scenarios.
- We have started with just over three separate Arma III server with additional ones and additional game servers slotted to launch with our community.
- Platoon Leadership began interviews for various higher level positions within the Platoon.
- Community led "Mandatory Fun Nights" on Liberation and Dynamic Recon Operations.
Training Sessions:
- We’ve conducted 4 training sessions, where members learned soldiering skills, basic combat fighting, and technical skills with our S-4 department learning about the AI and mods utilized by our unit to generate our missions.
- Our first round of recruits have begun their Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and selecting their ideal positions within our ranks.
First Operations:
- Our initial operation on September 1st was a true test of our skills, and we’re proud to say that the team performed admirably under pressure. Completing our overarching objectives, closing distances, and destroying the enemy
Your commitment and enthusiasm have set the tone for what promises to be a bright future for the 1st Ranger Battalion.
Upcoming Downtime:
As laid out in our CAODO, between every deployment the unit is to engage in a one(1) week downtime where no mandatory events are to take place and members are to enjoy a much earned break. Keeping with this policy our first cycle downtime is now upon us.
Downtime Details:
Date: September 2nd 2024 - September 10th 2024
Duration: 7 Days
Expected Behavior:
- Regular Members are expected to take a break and enjoy some time off or engage in one of our community servers which will be made available;
- S-1 Administration will ensure all members are up to date on PERSCOM with their earned stations and accommodations; and
- S-4 Logistics will be evaluating server and mod configuration and making changes or upgrades to support larger-scale operations and improve overall performance.
September Operations Preview:
Looking ahead, the September cycle is shaping up to be an action-packed month with not just our first full operations cycle but also our traditional SCP Operations Cycle as well! Here’s what you can expect:
New Deployment and Operations:
- Our upcoming deployment will take us to Europe. Along the lines of what once was the Iron Curtain 1st Ranger Battalion, will deploy to Poland for routine exercises with US Allies alongside a boarder which is beginning to heat up. The US aims to have our presence as a deterrence against any unlawful military activities.
Increased AI Capacity:
- With the server upgrades, we’ll be able to simulate more intense battles, providing a “big army” experience that’s both challenging and rewarding; and
- We also deploying our new AI templates to reduce overhead needed for large scale AI interactions.
RASP Initiation:
- For those looking to earn their Ranger Tab, we’ll be kicking off the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) this cycle. This is your chance to prove your mettle and fully complete your training at our unit.
SCP Halloween Event:
- As per our usual tradition, we will engage in a brief deployment placed in the SCP universe as the MTF. Mobile Task Forces (MTFs) are elite units composed of personnel drawn from across the Foundation and are mobilized to deal with specific threats or situations that sometimes exceed the operational capacity or expertise of regular field personnel.
- This event is Public and members are encouraged to invite their friends who might want to join us. As well members should expect to see additional persons from invited units.
- These events are not mandatory and Opt-In; a signup form will be distributed in October.
We’re excited to see how everyone steps up to these new challenges. September is going to be a pivotal month for our unit, and we can’t wait to embark on these operations together.
Staff Shop Messages:
Our staff shops have some of their own messages they wish to distribute for your digestion. Some of these are steps you as a member might need to take if not already done while others are informational.
S-1 Administration:
- If not done so already, members who started at the founding of our Unit might not have an account for this website. If you do not, please make the effort to sign up for the website via this link;
- For members which have been recruited successfully and processed should be able to access the backend of PERSCOM. This can be accomplished via two methods, when logging into the website, an authenticated member will automatically be brought to the backend side of PERSCOM. If you are already logged in you can navigate to the backend of PERSCOM by going from the top left grid menu > Home; and
- The PERSCOM member resume system has been launched. On the backend of PERSCOM you can view your fellow members Unit Related Service History (URSH).
S-2 Intellegence:
- With the upcoming deployment, WARNO, FRAGO, and OPORD will become a normal occurrence. Although not mandatory for all members to read, it is a good habit to read the memos distributed to understand mission objectives and overarching goals to a deployment.
S-3 Operations:
- S-3 Trainers have launched their space in the Discord for training related activities. These can be found under the TRAINING HEADQUARTERS category on Discord. New recruits are reminded that S-3 Trainers will reach out to them but ultimately the speed and success of getting them inside and qualified in our unit depends on them being available for training; and
- The S-3 Public Library has been launched. Here contains documentation related to various subjects which will expand over time. Members and the Public are both allowed to have these documents for their own purposes.
S-4 Logistics:
- Reminder to all members that S-4 utilizes the following Uptime Kuma Service Panel to track uptime for all of our services and notify members via Discord of unplanned outages.
S-9 Civilian Relations:
- S-9 is looking for members who want to record operations or be featured in our various social media spaces. As well any member interested in content creation is to reach out to CPT J. Prescott or 2LT J. Schwartz.
Conclusion:
As we move into the next phase of our journey, we want to thank each of you for your dedication and hard work. The first month has laid a strong foundation, and we’re confident that the 1st Ranger Battalion, Arma III Realism will continue to grow and thrive.
Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready for an epic September filled with new missions, challenges, and opportunities to showcase your skills.
