3. Situation

Enemy Forces

  • Scattered loyalist forces of the toppled Altaian Government;
  • Concentrated pockets of protesting civilian movements of US Coalition Forces; and
  • Freedom and Independence Army (FIA) terrorist cells embedded in the Altis countryside.

Friendly Forces

  • US Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 11, USS Nimitz (CVN-68), Carrier Air Wing Seventeen, DESRON-23, and
  • II Marine Expeditionary Force

Terrain and Weather: 

  • Terrain will encompass the North Western parts of Altis; and
  • Weather is expected to be 60% precipitation with general cloudy skies.

4. Mission

​Mission Statement

  • Alpha Company, 1st Ranger Battalion will conduct asset seizure missions to secure and collect nuclear weapons from local government facilities in the region of Altis. Once secured, the weapons will be transported to Altis International Airport Hephaestus by ground convoy for transfer to United Nations custody. This operation is critical to preventing the proliferation of nuclear materials and ensuring regional stability.

5. Execution

Commander’s Intent:

  • To secure and safely transport nuclear weapons to prevent their acquisition by hostile forces, ensuring regional stability and compliance with international non-proliferation agreements.
    • Key Tasks:
      • Locate and secure all identified nuclear weapons within the target facilities;
      • Establish security perimeters and neutralize any hostile threats;
      • Safely transport the nuclear weapons to the designated airfield; and
      • Coordinate with United Nations forces for the transfer of the weapons.
    • End State: All nuclear weapons are secured and handed over to UN forces without incident, with no loss of life or equipment.

Concept of Operations

  • The operation will be conducted in three phases:
    • Phase 1 - Infiltration:
      • Alpha Company will insert via air assault to the vicinity of Altis International Airport Hephaestus and establish a secure foothold near the nuclear storage facilities; and
      • Recon teams will confirm the location and status of nuclear assets.
    • Phase 2 - Secure and Collect:
      • Assault teams will breach the facilities, neutralize any hostile forces, and secure the nuclear weapons;
      • Engineering teams will ensure safe handling and packaging for transport; and
      • A QRF (Quick Reaction Force) will be on standby to respond to any emerging threats.
    • Phase 3 - Transport and Transfer:
      • Alpha Company will form a convoy to transport the secured nuclear weapons to Altis International Airport Hephaestus;
      • The convoy will be protected by armored vehicles and air support; and
      • Upon arrival at the airfield, Alpha Company will establish a perimeter and coordinate the transfer of the weapons to United Nations forces.

Tasks to Subordinate Units:

  • 1st Platoon
    • Conduct reconnaissance and secure the initial entry points into the nuclear storage facilities; and 
    • Execute the primary assault on the facilities, secure the nuclear weapons, and prepare them for transport.
  • 2nd Platoon
    • Provide convoy security and support during the transportation phase, including route clearance and overwatch.
  • 3rd Platoon
    • Conduct deep patrol routes to secure large sectors which remain unknown to security forces.
  • 4th Platoon
    • Provide quick reaction forces stationed out of Altis International Airport;

​Coordinating Instructions:

  • Timeline
    • Operation begins at 0400 hours local time. All units must be in position by 0300 hours. Convoy departs for the airfield at 0600 hours. Recon teams are to be dispatched immediately once at Altis International Airport Hephaestus;
  • Rules of Engagement (ROE)
    • Engage armed hostiles on sight. Minimize collateral damage, particularly within civilian areas.
  • Communications
    • Primary frequency is 35.50 MHz. Alternate frequency is 37.10 MHz. Call signs will be distributed by the S-6 (Communications) prior to the mission.

6. Sustainment

Logistics

  • Ammo resupply will be available at designated Landing Zones (LZ). Medical support will be provided by the attached medics from the battalion aid station; and
  • Meal and Water kits are to be transported at the platoon level with provided ration packs.

Personnel

  • Ensure all personnel are combat-loaded and have completed their pre-combat inspections (PCI).
